On October 24, Wildlife Warriors Afrika played a key role in responding to an urgent call from Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife (EKZNW) for non-lethal solutions to mitigate the conflict caused by a herd of approximately 30 elephants from Mawana Game Reserve that had moved into the Esidakaneni area. As part of a collaborative effort with Humane Society International/Africa (HSI/Africa), Mawana and Loziba game reserves, and other partners, Wildlife Warriors Afrika helped coordinate the use of drones to safely guide the elephants away from the community, preventing harm to both the elephants and residents. The operation was successful, and the elephants were monitored and moved back to safety. Wildlife Warriors Afrika continues to work alongside EKZNW and other conservation groups to develop long-term, non-lethal conflict mitigation strategies, ensuring the protection of both elephants and local communities. Below are links to news articles with more details regarding the collaboration to save The Ghost Elephants.
